The Grand National

In the UK today, it was the biggest horse race of the year: The John Smith's Grand National. I had a flutter, backing a horse named Synchronized, ridden by the tremendous A P McCoy.

The horse was tipped as favorite to win the race, but the jockey was unseated early in the race. The horse carried on, only to fall at a later fence. Unfortunately, the horse died as a result of this fall, along with another horse.

This has drawn into question the ethics of horse racing. Is it morally right to allow the animals to run, regardless of the danger to their lives? Should racing be stopped all together?

As one who bet on the race, I think it's unfortunate that the horses die, but at the end of the day, they are doing what they were born to do.

  1. I'm not for horse racing or dog for that to many get killed if they don't win or do good
