Exams!

Hey guys!
Just to let anyone who cares know that I've been out the game for a week or so because of exams, and I've been studying my anus off. Should be back at the ol' blog sometime next week though!

The Grand National

In the UK today, it was the biggest horse race of the year: The John Smith's Grand National. I had a flutter, backing a horse named Synchronized, ridden by the tremendous A P McCoy.

The horse was tipped as favorite to win the race, but the jockey was unseated early in the race. The horse carried on, only to fall at a later fence. Unfortunately, the horse died as a result of this fall, along with another horse.

This has drawn into question the ethics of horse racing. Is it morally right to allow the animals to run, regardless of the danger to their lives? Should racing be stopped all together?

As one who bet on the race, I think it's unfortunate that the horses die, but at the end of the day, they are doing what they were born to do.

Stuck in traffic?

The world's first flying car has been unveiled at the New York Auto Show. The Terrafugia Transition's folding wing design can legally be driven on the road and flown in the air. This has been the dream if many engineers for a long time.

However, the transition has its negative points. As it is neither a real car or a real plane, it does not perform as well as either, in the air or on the ground. Due to the design, the Transition also still requires a runway to take off. In addition, it costs £200,000, for which you could simply buy a car and a plane separately.

Even so, the manufacturers have received orders for over 100, and will begin shipping in around a year.
